Bowls Lancashire About Us

Parking at Southport for County Events

For those attending at Southport to play in events there is parking available at the Pumping station near the B green (if there is space) and also on the grass at Princess park accessed by the slip road that runs between the Club and Pleasureland. Members of Southport BC have keys to access the gate.

IN BOTH cases players MUST get a parking pass from the Clubhouse on arrival and before leaving their vehicle for the day.

Players attending at Heaton Hall for County Events

Players are reminded that parking charges are now in force at this venue.

County Mixed Pairs

Despite the event being available for entry now for 3 months and numerous appeals for players there are not enough to run the event and it has been cancelled.

Arrangements will be made to reimburse those who had paid for entry into the event.

Bowls Lancashire About Us

Coloured Bowling Shoes

The Bowls Lancashire Executive came to a decision at it's meeting that to promote bowls was to 'move with the times' and to allow coloured bowling shoes was a step in the right direction. When we have all sat and watched the Commonwealth Games Bowls matches it is difficult to argue against coloured shoes.
This decision has been queried and Graham Tomlinson has spoken with Bowls England. It would appear that there is a different interpretation of the rules concerning what the County can allow when it comes to clothing and footwear.
Graham Tomlinson, as the County Competition Secretary, is now going to write a letter to the Chief Executive of Bowls England to ascertain clarity over the County's right, for it's own members, to stipulate the dress code for County Championships leading to the National Championships.
Other questions with regards to coloured shoes will be asked and a full explanantion will be given in due course.
In the meantime, to prevent any problems with coloured shoes being worn, players are advised NOT to wear them in County Championships or when representing the County in National Inter-County Competitions until an answer has been received.

Results Reporting for County Championships

My prefered method of you reporting your results to me is by the 'results reporting form' on the County website, failing that send me an email via bowlslancashire@gmail.com.

If armageddon occurs and the internet fails or your computer, iphone or mobile phone have exploded into a million pieces and you cannot access the internet then feel free to ring me but only on my mobile phone.

Think before you just pick up the phone...

Men's County Fours

There is an error in the County Information book and the first play by date of this event is TUESDAY 15th MAY 2018 and not Friday as printed.
